Library & Archive

The Society has an extensive Library comprising a unique archive of performing material, most of it unavailable from any public or private library or collection. We are in the process of conserving this collection and either transferring it to the website for immediate free download or creating new performing sets for hire from our Librarian. Please bear with us whilst we carry out this work.

The following items are available to download for free, hire or purchase from the Society and other publishers. A deposit is required on all hire material, which is refundable upon its safe return. Please contact the with details of your requirements and performance dates to obtain a quote.

In addition to the items listed here, the Library holds single copies of vocal scores, libretti, and most of Sullivan’s songs, hymns and other music, including various arrangements, and incomplete orchestral sets of Lancers, Selections etc. Details of all available material will be added here in due course but please contact the  if you are looking for something that is not listed as copies can usually be provided from the archive for a small charge.

The Library also holds a collection of early prompt books, original performance material and copyists’ scores. Most of this material can be made available for research purposes, but is generally in a fragile condition, and may only be viewed under controlled circumstances.
