This is a superb and most enjoyable collection and includes some of Sullivan’s more serious music, notably The Lost Chord (played here as a Cornet Solo) and the Evening Hymn “O Gladsome Light” from The Golden Legend. The CD also includes extracts from some of his operas, written in collaboration with W.S. Gilbert, sparklingly played by the Band of the Irish Guards, albeit not in their usual settings.
