The Sorcerer

An entirely original modern comic opera in two acts to a libretto by W. S. Gilbert. First performed at the Opera Comique, 17 November 1877.

Vocal score

This vocal score is part of a set of materials which make it possible almost for the first time to perform the original 1877 version of this much loved musical. The standard 1884 version is naturally given pride of place, and both versions are presented including all the music, dialogue and stage directions. It is newly edited by Colin Jagger from Sullivan’s autograph manuscript and the first editions of the vocal scores and librettos, together with the original orchestral parts. It is part of a complete set of materials which also includes a reduced orchestration for a minimum of ten players. All materials are designed to be clear, practical, with good page-turns, etc.
