There will be no Sullivan Festival or residential event in 2019.
Twenty-fourth Sullivan Festival, Glasgow, Thursday 21 – Saturday 23 May 2020

The decision by Scottish Opera to present both The Gondoliers and Utopia, Limited next year has provided us with a unique opportunity to hold an event with two top class, large scale opera performances at its heart. Utopia, Limited will be performed on the evening of 21 May; The Gondoliers the following evening. A block booking of tickets is being made, and we are in the process of assembling a programme of interesting talks by Sullivan experts for the daytime of Friday 22 May Our base will be a comfortable hotel close to the Glasgow Theatre Royal, where the operas are being presented.

This is a tremendous opportunity to see a spectacular performance of one of the most-loved shows in the G&S repertoire together with what promises to be the best performance in living memory of one of the most neglected. Casts include Ellie Laugharne, Ben McAteer, Sarah Pring, Richard Suart. Director Stuart Maunder; Musical Directors Derek Clarke and James Hendry.

The full programme, together with the costs for a two-night package (with the option of additional nights) will be published shortly; in  the meantime, if you are interested in joining us, please send your name and contact details to Stephen Turnbull, Great Tregue Farmhouse, Lansallos, Looe, PL13 2PT;  shturnbull@aol.com.
