Gilbert & Sullivan Church Service, St John’s Church, Buxton, 11.00 am on Sunday 4 August
04/08/2024 - 04/08/2024

The annual G&S commemorative church service is one of the highlights of the international Gilbert & Sullivan Festival.  It will feature four of Sullivan’s best hymn tunes, Lux Eoi (1874), St Gertrude (1871), Samuel (1864) and Bishopgarth (1897), plus ’The lost chord’ and ‘Lead, kindly light’. The main work will be the Te Deum Laudamus (1900) – A Thanksgiving for Victory, known as the Boer War Te Deum.

The Te Deum and ‘Lead, kindly light’, will be sung by St John’s choir augmented by other G&S singers who must be available to attend the necessary rehearsals at St John’s. These are scheduled for Friday 2 August 6.15 pm to 7.25 pm and Sunday 4 August 9.45 am to 10.30 am. Music will be provided by the Festival.

If you would like to join the choir, please send the following information before 30 June 2024 to Sarah Taylor sarah@gsfestivals.org with the following information:
