Arthur Sullivan and the Royal Family exhibition

Until October: Arthur Sullivan and the Royal Family (in conjunction with the celebration of Queen Victoria’s bicentenary): University of Rochester Department of Rare Books and Special Collections. The Department is located in Rush Rhees Library on the University of Rochester campus in Rochester, New York. Curated by our member Hal Kanthor MD, with items on loan from his collection, the exhibition showcases some of Sullivan’s compositions that have special relationships with the royal family, including the Festival Te Deum, The Light of the WorldThe GondoliersThe Golden Legend, Ivanhoe and the Queen’s Jubilee compositions. Included are Sullivan manuscript items, nineteenth-century photographs, posters, programmes, music and other historic memorabilia, as well as material highlighting Victorian global ex-pat communities’ appreciation for Sullivan’s collaborations with Gilbert. Hours: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. Saturday 11am-3pm.  Admission is free, but there is a charge for parking. University of Rochester
